President
L.E. Simmons is the founder and President of SCF Partners. Prior to founding SCF, L.E. co-founded Simmons & Company International, the leading investment banking firm to oilfield service companies, in which he was a partner between 1974 and 1989. Prior to Simmons & Company International, L.E. was a Corporate Finance Officer at The First National Bank of Chicago.
L.E. began his business career while an undergraduate student majoring in economics at the University of Utah. There, he founded University Products, a company that provided products to college students. Following a year at the London School of Economics, L.E. earned his MBA from Harvard University in 1972.
L.E. is Chairman of the Board of Oil States International and serves on the Board of Directors of Zions Bancorporation, Express Jet, and Simmons Media Group. He is on the Board, and former Chairman, of Texas Children's Hospital, a Trustee of Rice University and Chairman of the Council of Overseers of its Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, a trustee of The Gordon and Mary Cain Pediatric Neurology Research Foundation, on the Board of the Houston Endowment and serves on the Harvard Business School Visiting Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
David C. Baldwin
Managing Director
David Baldwin started his career in the energy industry as a drilling and production engineer with Union Pacific Resources in the 1980's after receiving a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Intrigued with the business aspect of the energy industry, David returned to his alma mater to receive an MBA degree.
While in graduate school, David started an energy consulting business and worked for General Atlantic Partners, a global venture capital firm and early investor in SCF. Through General Atlantic, he met L.E. Simmons and joined SCF uon his graduation in 1991. Over the years, David has been responsible for developing investment themes around emerging energy trends. He is currently responsible for overseeing several of SCF's existing investments and sourcing and structuring new investment opportunities.
David blends his personal and professional life with his wife, Maire, who is also active in the energy industry at EOG Resources. He is also an avid golfer, traveler, and Longhorn die-hard. He has a long-standing commitment to Houston's Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation, where is a member, and past Chairman of the Board.
Anthony F. DeLuca
Managing Director
Anthony DeLuca joined SCF in 1992. He has performed numerous roles within the firm and is responsible for firm-wide financial matters, investor relations, transaction execution, and investment monitoring.
Prior to joining SCF, from 1984 to 1992, Anthony worked in the oil & gas and oilfield service practices of Arthur Andersen & Co. where he provided accounting and auditing, merger and acquisition, and business process consulting services. Anthony earned a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
Andrew L. Waite
Managing Director
Andy Waite joined SCF in 1995 and he is responsible for overseeing a number of SCF's current investments and sourcing and structuring new investment opportunities.
Prior to joining SCF, Andy was Vice President of Simmons and Company International. He previously worked with the Royal Dutch/Shell Group in a variety of technical and operating roles for Shell companies in the Netherlands, Egypt, the U.S., and Norway.
Andy received a BSc degree with First Class Honours in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University of Technology in England, a MS degree in Environmental Engineering Science from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School where he was elected a Baker Scholar.
In addition to his responsibilities at SCF, Andy serves on the Board of Directors of Complete Production Services, Inc. and as a Board Member for Green Boncorp, Inc. and Family Services of Greater Houston and he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Adam C. Zylman
Vice President
Adam Zylman joined SCF in 2003 and is responsible for the sourcing and structuring of new investment opportunities and the development of ongoing portfolio companies. He is a director of Reef Services, Inc.
Prior to joining SCF, Adam was a Vice President in the Global Energy and Power Investment Banking Group of Merrill Lynch & Co working on a broad array of merger and acquistion advisory assignments, corporate finance optimization analyses and capital raising transactions.
Adam received a BA degree in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University, earning Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors.
Amy N. Nelson
Vice President
Amy Nelson joined SCF in 2000 and she is responsible for the sourcing and structuring of new investment opportunities and the development of ongoing portfolio companies. She is a director of Global Flow Technologies, Inc.
Prior to joining SCF, Amy worked for Amoco Production Company in a variety of financial planning, engineering and project management roles. Amy received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a BA degree in Economics from Rice University and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Logan M. Walters
Associate
Logan Walters joined SCF Partners in May 2005 and is responsible for the evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities and the support of ongoing portfolio company initiatives. He is a director of Triton Group Holdings, LLC and SubSea Services International, Inc.
Prior to joining SCF, Logan was a Senior Policy Advisor to the Under Secretary of Energy in Washington, DC. In this role, he was responsible for the development and execution of several international policy initiatives that focused on improving technology and encouraging American investment in foreign markets. Before joining the Department of Energy, Logan served as the White House Personal Aide to President George W. Bush.
Logan received a BA degree in English from The University of Texas and an MBA from Rice University.
Russell Hawkins
Advisor
Russell B. Hawkins is a founding partner of Avalon Advisors, L.P., a registered investment advisor, and serves as managing partner of the Hawkins Investment Partnership, L.P., an unregistered investment partnership. Prior to the founding of Avalon, Russell worked at Fayez Sarofim & Co. from 1979 through 2000, serving as a member of the firm's Investment Committee and its Director of Research.
Russell serves as a director of Sundial 2000 Limited, and on the Board of Trustees of St. John's School and the Depelchin Children's Home, both of Houston.
John W. H. Geddes
President SCF Partners Inc.
John Geddes established SCF Partners Inc. in Canada in 1998, with the mandate of identifying and developing investment opportunities in the oilfield services sector. John works closely with the management of portfolio companies, assisting in growth and value creation strategies. He is currently serving on several Boards, including Flint Energy Services Ltd., Global Flow Technologies, Inc., Transco Energy Services, Ltd. all of which he is Chairman.
John was a senior executive at one of SCF's original Fund I investments in 1989, Wheatley Corporation, where he experienced SCF's value-creation first hand, including the acquisition of five companies, an IPO on the NYSE in 1991, and the eventual sale to Dresser Industries, Inc. in 1994. At Dresser, he was Group President of several oilfield companies with operations worldwide.
Brian Purdy
Vice President
Brian earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1998, graduating with Distinction. He began his career as an analyst with Canadian Pacific Railway Limited before entering the investment banking industry, joining TD Securities Inc. There, Brian spent over 5 years working on numerous M&A and restructuring advisory assignments nd capital raising transactions in the Canadian energy sector. He also served as a Vice President of Tristone Capital Inc., a full-service investment banking firm specializing in the energy industry, where he focused on the oilfield services and junior e xploration and production sectors, before joining SCF in 2007.
Brian is responsible for analyzing new Canadian investment opportunities, assisting in the structuring and execution of Canadian transactions, and providing strategic and financial support to SCF's Canadian portfolio companies. Brian enjoys outdoor activities and remains active in recreational hockey, golf and skiing.
