In the field of private equity, our investors are among the most knowledgeable and experienced. Since its founding in 1989, SCF has grown from 12 investors to today's approximate 45.

SCF’s investor base is composed mostly of non-profit organizations, university endowments and family foundations. SCF is deeply committed to helping non-profit organizations invest their resources successfully. The firm has investing relationships with non-profit organizations such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

SCF is equally dedicated to serving the investing needs of colleges and universities. Some of America’s finest universities—Stanford University, Duke University, Northwestern University, Rice University and the University of Texas—have entrusted a portion of their resources to SCF.

Family foundations, like The Hillman Company (which has invested with SCF since our inception), are an important component of SCF’s investor base.

The firm also works with governments to grow public employees’ pension funds. For example, the City of San Francisco and the State of Minnesota both invest with us. SCF takes great pride in the fact that, after investing in their first SCF fund, substantially all investors have subscribed to each succeeding fund.
